Tyre Pressure

Having the proper tyre pressure is a crucial issue to maintain to ensure safety, driving performance, tyre life and fuel cost.

How to check your tyre pressure

  • Check your tyres when they are cold or your vehicle has been parked for at least three hours.
  • You can find the correct air pressure for your tyres by looking at the sticker that is commonly located on the door of the driver’s side on many vehicles or looking in your owner’s manual.
  • Keep in mind that you can’t always tell if a tyre is underinflated with a visual inspection and be sure to use a tyre pressure gauge.

Tyre Wear

The depth of tread on each of your tyres is important for vehicle stability, especially on wet or icy roads. Irregular tyre wear is a frustrating little gremlin that can steal your tyres' performance and tread life if you let it. You can prevent unexpected accidents by checking for tyre wear regularly.

How to check your tyre tread wear levels

  • Check the depth of the treadby observing the Tread Wear Indicator (as the symbol of “△” or the letters of “TWI”) on the bottom of major groovesin several places across.To ensure optimum safety and performance, tyres should be replaced when groove depth remains less than 2mm.
  • When the tread surface is worn to the same level as these indicators, the tyre is at the legal limit and should be replaced.
  • The Tyre recommends you to check for tyre wear once in a month. Also, make sure to do a check once more after long distance travel.

Wheel Alignment

Wheel alignmentis part of standard automobile maintenance that consists of adjusting the angles of the wheels so that they are set to the car maker's specification. The purpose of these adjustments is to reduce tyre wear, and to ensure that vehicle travel is straight and true (without "pulling" to one side).

When to perform the alignment

  • your car seems to be drifting to one side, even when you think you're driving straight.
  • your steering wheel vibrates.
  • you are driving straight, but your steering wheel isn't centered.
  • If none of these indicators occurs but it's been a while since your last alignment, check your owner's manual to see how often the manufacturer recommends having this service.

It’s suggested that tyres should be transposed as soon as the phenomena above mentioned are detected (especially the two front wheels). The tyre transposition patterns are acceptable below. Please refer to your vehicle owner's manual regarding tyre transposition on advice.

How to proper store tyre

  • Keep your tyres away from direct sunlight and locations with high temperature, high moisture, heavy electrical machinery, welders etc. Tyres should be preferably stored in a cool, dry, and dark room with controlled environment.
  • If possible, store tyres vertically rather than stacking horizontally to reduce stress and tyre distortion. If tyres must be stacked horizontally, stack them symmetrically and not so high as to cause severe distortion of the tyres at the bottom.
  • Tyres are not meant to be stored for extensive periods of time. As a general rule, storing a tyre for several months in far from perfect conditions will inflict damage on the tyre.

Safety and comfort

Any tyre, no matter how well constructed, may fail in use as a result of punctures, impact damage, improper inflation or other conditions resulting from use. Tyre failure may create risk of properly damage or personal injury. To reduce the risk of tyre failure and for your safety and comfort, we strongly recommend the following:

Wheel mounting

  • Never mount a tyre on a rim that is damaged orwhich has been repaired by welding or brazing.
  • Tyre should only be mounted by professionality trained persons.
  • Do not mix different tyre size designations or construction on the same axle,-except for limited use of temporary.
  • Outer diameter of wheel should be the same as inner diameter of tyre.

Maintenance

  • Objects in the road such as potholes, glass, metal, rocks, wooddebris, curbstones and such, which could damage a tyre should be safety avoided. And please decrease the speed while driving under atrocious weather and poor terrain condition.
  • To preserve traffic safety and tyre life, ZC Rubber recommends driving safety and avoiding hard acceleration, braking or cornering in unnecessary situations.
  • If you feel the car is unstable or feel any unusual noises orvibrations, stop your car in safe place and inspect your tyres. Even if no visible defects are found, drive slowly and ask your dealer to inspect your tyres as soon as possible.

Tyre pressure

  • Make sure to follow instructions in the car owner's manual or on the vehicle tyre information placard in the car to maintain proper tyre pressure (Particularity driving on highway and/or when carrying heavy loads).
  • Never bleed or reduce air pressure when tyres are hot from driving.
  • Over- or under-inflation pressure (including spa tyre) at least once a month and before every long trip.
  • Never inflate beyond275 kPa(2.75bar, 40psi)to seat beads.
  • Tyre inflation should be done in a safety cage.

Winter tyre

  • Winter tyres(studless, stud or snow tyres) should not be mixed with other types of tyres.
  • New winter tyre should not be driven over 80km/h for the first 100km.
  • When driving on winter roads, sudden starts and quick stops should be avoided.

Tyre chains

  • When using tyre chains be sure to use the proper size chains and affix with priority to the drive axle.
  • Avoid driving with tyre chains for long distance on roads with no packed snow or ice.

Storage
